Tuesday7:30 pmBible Study

Rookley was the first Bible Christian Society on the Isle of Wight and the Chapel was built in 1859. Rookley is situated geographically in the centre of the Island and although some of our congregation come from the village, others travel in from Ryde, East Cowes, Newport etc. We feel called to this place and we have seen God at work in the lives of our people. We have also felt the hand of God at work during the renovation of our Chapel building.

Our membership at present is 18, with a broad range of ages. Visitors often comment on the warm and friendly welcome they receive at Rookley, and we extend this to all those coming to our Church.

The Sunday morning service is mostly traditional, but lively, the evening fellowship is more varied as we invite preachers / ministers to lead the evening as the Holy Spirit directs - this can take the form of Bible study, a service, meditative worship or whatever.

We regularly meet for bible study and prayer on a Tuesday evening. These are led by one of our members. We have recently used books by Max Lucado as well as study guides for Old and New Testament.

In December 2008, the renovation of our Chapel building was completed and more recently, in May 2011, we had double glazed windows and doors fitted to the Sunday School Hall.

At Easter we have a Multi-Egg display and Easter Fair. The Church is involved in many of the village activities - most notably: Gardening Galore in May and the Rookley Show in July. In November, we have a multi-Nativity Display and Christmas Fair.

We enjoy soiree evenings (entertainment provided by our members and friends), auctions, sponsored walks, beetle drives and fun quiz evenings. We enjoy meeting together over a meal.
