The Holy Spirit at Work

By the end of 2000 the Methodist Church at Niton was poised to close. With only a handful of regulars in the congregation, most of whom were no longer young enough to play an active part in the running of the Church, a decision was made to close the chapel. The Holy Spirit brought two house fellowships that met elsewhere in the village into the chapel. This had the effect of drawing others into the church and by early 2001 a flourishing Christian community was worshipping in the chapel under the Methodist umbrella. Since then the Church has steadily grown and now is regularly attended by 60 to 80 people each Sunday.

Morning service is of a modern lively nature often supported by the young people's musical accompaniment. Praise and open prayer forms a significant part of Sunday morning worship.

Sunday Fellowship lunches are held on regular basis.

A well-supported Junior Church has now been opened.

The Lord has richly blessed the Church in many ways enabling modernisation of the premises and the Church has been able to finacially support many individual Christian needs & initiatives.

The Church has association with the "Youth for Christ" movement on the Island and has a Youth worker who runs 3 youth groups for village children during the week.

The Church also supports a local Christian bus that visits town centre areas late at night to help people in distress through drink and drugs.
