Newport Methodist Church is a growing Christian community.

We have upwards of 115 members and a Junior Church. Music is led both on the organ complemented with a music group of flutes, keyboard, guitars, violn which plays most weeks. Our Sunday morning services attract congregations of 80 - 100, whilst 15 - 20 attend evening service. We have a Sunday School during the morning service and is great to see some new families coming along to Church - we really enjoy their company.

We have a number of housegroups for bible study and discussion and recently have held Alpha Courses for those wishing to find out about the Christian faith. The housegroups are co ordinated and meet together on occassions for joint fellowship and planning of materials. Lent Groupshave also just been held as well as a confirmation group.

For the past two years we have run a mid week 'Messy Church' which has attracted up to 70-100 parents and children to this fresh expresion on church. We begin with lots of table games for parents and children to play whilst also having a drink after a day at school or work. Then we invite both parents and children to explore different crafts based around the building on our chosen theme. There are usually eight or nine crafts and an area especially devoted to toddlers. Some of the crafts are messy and therefore very popular! Following the crafts everyone comes into church for an informal 15mins or so of worship containing some songs, an interactive talk by the minister and prayers for all to join in with. Everyone looks forward to the cooked tea prepared by our team and families and friends sit together and enjoy a meal before going home.

Our Boys Brigade Company is strong with 30-40 boys from the ages of 5-16years and we have regular Parade Services. Youth For Christ holds a Rock Solid Group at the church for young people aged 9-13years.

During the summer we support 'Park Life' a community party in the park event run by local Christians with stage, creative tents, live music, football competitions etc etc...

We have a good number of social events and opportunites for friendship and fellowship.

Our church is almost always open on a Tuesday morning for coffee and cakes attracting many visitors. We enjoy the company of those on coach trips who week by week stop for a cuppa, a chat, and for some a time to sit in church and enjoy its peace and beauty. People are on hand to welcome and the opportunity to pray.(We atke a break with Coffee Mornings during late Dec to mid Feb.

All visitors, holidaymakers or IOW Residents are assured of a warm welcome to join us.
